Liposuction is a safe and effective procedure to remove unwanted fat and contour the body. However, like any surgical procedure, some temporary side effects are normal. Here’s what you may experience:
- Swelling – Mild to moderate swelling in the treated areas is common and usually reduces within a few weeks.
- Bruising – You may notice bruising, which typically fades over 1–2 weeks.
- Pain or Discomfort – Mild soreness or tenderness is expected and can be managed with prescribed medications.
- Numbness or Tingling – Temporary numbness in the treated area may occur and usually improves over time.
- Fluid Accumulation (Seromas) – Occasionally, small pockets of fluid may form under the skin, which can be drained if necessary.
- Skin Irregularities – Temporary lumpiness, rippling, or uneven contours may be noticed; these usually smooth out as healing progresses.
- Redness or Warmth – Some redness or warmth at the treated site may be present in the initial days.
- Fatigue – Feeling slightly tired for a few days post-surgery is normal.
Important: Most side effects are temporary and resolve with time. Serious complications are rare but can occur, so always follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions and attend follow-up appointments.
